Boje Lamp

Boje is the graduation project of the Industrial Designer Marcela Gonzales. I got the pleasure to work on the electronic design for this installation. Boje is a street lamp that uses pipes as a percussion instrument and emits rays of random colors if the instrument is vibrating.

Electronic Design

The design and components were designed after consulting with Marcela.

For this project, we used several pressure sensors and high power RGB LEDs. For the control, we used an ATmega16 programmed using C. Everything had to fit inside a pipe, so we settled on a custom shaped PCB. The PCB was designed using Eagle.

After assembly, the internals fitted like a glove!
